[DZM-TEMP]

Microprocessor driven stepper motor tachometer, with a window for oil temperature, programmable for use with both 2 stroke (1-2-3-4 cylinders) and 4 stroke engines (4 cycles, 1-2-3-4-5-6-8-10-12 cylinders).

The tachometer relies on analogue ignition signals fed to the microprocessor for conversion into a digital signal for the stepper motor. This in turn displays the engine RPM on the dial. The stepper motor design allows for the best of both worlds; an extremely steady needle with no over shooting of RPM, all too common with conventional tachometers.

The tachometer comes with a self check function. Upon starting the engine, the microprocessor instructs the stepper motor to move the needle to maximum RPM, then back to zero after which it displays the idle speed.

The oil temperature gauge relies on an analogue to digital transducer to send signals to an alphanumeric display in the tachometer face. The oil temperature gauge is programmable to display either Celsius or Fahrenheit.

The temperature sensor uses the standard M10 x 1 thread size. We use same thread size in our engine for oil temp. sensor.

Tip : When your car emit a lot of RFI the needle is flickering, unsteady in the lower RPM range. To suppress and avoid this effect use an coaxial wire coming from an old automotive antenna. The shield is not grounded to chassis! The inner core wire is used as signal wire from coil minus to tach.

Tach accuracy : We have checked many of these tach about the RPM accuracy with a frequency generator.
Result : The RPM indication was always on the right side, will say a little much than effective, only around 10 RPM more !
